Alexander Coniff
AIMP Engineering Manager
Biography
Alexander is the Engineering Manager for the Antarctic Infrastructure Modernisation Programme (AIMP). He leads a dedicated team of specialist engineers providing technical assurance for AIMP projects across the BAS Polar Estate.
He was previously the Facilities Engineer for Rothera Research Station on the Antarctic Peninsula, where his responsibilities included management of the Technical Services Team, preventative and routine station maintenance and development of the estate. Alex has deployed to Antarctica regularly since 2020 and overwintered at Rothera in 2024.
Before joining the British Antarctic Survey, he worked in the environmental risk reduction sector, chiefly with resilience engineering for Royal Air Force fuel infrastructure and served in the British Army as a Royal Engineer.
